RIM's BlackBerry Bold Beats Apple to the 3G Punch
Amid swirling rumors about the impending announcement of a 3G iPhone, Research in Motion today introduced its slickest, speediest, most powerful, and most connected BlackBerry to date: the BlackBerry Bold 9000.Equipped with support for tri-band HSDPA and quad-band EDGE (which means that it will support the highest-speed GSM-family data networks wherever they are available worldwide), 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, stereo Bluetooth, and both assisted and autonomous GPS, the Bold could prove a formidable challenger to Apple's next-gen iPhone on connectivity alone. It even looks a bit iPhone-esque, with its glassy display area, generally flat profile, and rounded corners. Still, the Bold comes configured with a hardware QWERTY keyboard, and it retains the general dimensions of its predecessors, so it's much shorter and somewhat thicker than the iPhone. Philadelphia's citywide WiFi close to shutting down
It'd be absolutely spectacular to actually see one of these admittedly ambitious municipal WiFi projects actually work out every now and then, but instead, we're seeing the nails start to sink into yet another citywide WiFi coffin. This go 'round, the network blanketing most of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania is on the verge of sending out its last signals unless the city can devise a plan in short order to take it over from EarthLink, who unsurprisingly wants out on the double. Unfortunately, we don't have a great feeling about the system's future -- history has a way of forecasting, you know?

Review of Asus Eee PC 4G
So, I’ve been toying with the idea of buying a new laptop for a while now. I used to own a Macbook but simply found I wasn’t using it enough to justify the £750 that I spent on it in the first place. I’d sit downstairs and use it for web browsing once in a while, and that was about it. So, I sold it and bought myself an iPhone as soon as they came out. Whilst it’s been nothing but fantastic, and the web browsing experience in it is brilliant, it’s just not the same when you’re sat in front of the TV and want to do a bit of Neowin-ing, or chat with your friends on MSN from the comfort of the couch. As I’m sure you’re all aware, Asus released their fantastic Eee PC range quite some time ago now, and to be frank I’ve been fascinated ever since they were released. On getting to the airport for our recent venture to Amsterdam for the 2008 European Neowindex event, I was absolutely delighted to find that Dixons were selling the 4G version of the dinky little laptop for the same price as the 2G (£199), so my curiosity finally got the better of me and I caved. XP SP3 cripples some PCs with endless reboots
Installing Windows XP Service Pack 3 sends some PCs into an endless series of reboots, according to posts to a Microsoft support forum.Jesper Johansson, a former program manager for security policy at Microsoft and a prominent Windows blogger, has worked with users to tentatively identify the problem as involving only machines using processors from Advanced Micro Devices.Messages from frustrated users began accumulating on the XP SP3 support newsgroup Wednesday, just a day after Microsoft released the update to the general public. "I just installed Windows XP SP3 and after completing the processes and when the system reboots, the system cannot proceed to load the Windows," said a user labeled as "Olin" in a message that kicked off a long thread. "It just displays the flash screen of Windows then after it reboots again. Most users who left messages on the forum said that they were unable to boot into Windows Safe mode.
